How many times have you talked yourself out of taking a big step by saying things like, “Oh, that’s just not for me.” or “I’m just not the kind of person who does that stuff”?
The world is run by the people that go after their dreams, no matter how it looks to anyone else. They aren’t afraid to try and fail and branch out because they know it’ll get them one step closer to their goals.
So why should we limit ourselves?
Sometimes, we don’t have the confidence to see our worth through our own eyes. So, we look to the world to define us.
When our self-esteem has taken a hit, we are greatly affected by the labels other people have given us.
We draw a line in the sand to separate our strengths and weaknesses. We limit ourselves by looking at our potential through their eyes.
We reaffirm the world’s views of us and accept them as truth.
And, without ever really realizing it, we have settled and accepted a rigid definition of who we are. It doesn’t allow for growth or taking chances. It freezes us in our fear and our insecurity.
Life shouldn’t be predetermined like that. It should be determined by our passions and what we know in our heart we should be doing.
You may be having a setback, but you are still the same strong and ambitious person you have always been.
So, stop letting your fear call the shots because fear doesn’t care about your goals and it definitely doesn’t care about you.
You don’t have to have it all together, and you’re going to make mistakes. But, you’re going to learn from them and be better for it.
The last thing you want to do is look back one day and realize you lost yourself somewhere along the way and stopped living life on your own terms.
Deep down, you know who you are, and no rough patch is going to change that. You don’t need other people to define you or distort the vision you have of yourself.
Shed the labels, and see yourself, perhaps for the first time in a long time, with clarity.
