Being a romantic poet and writing about love and relationships, I have written many different soulmate quotes and poems along with some twin flame poetry. I get asked this question from my readers, so I thought I would write about it and explain the similarities and the differences between a soulmate and a twin flame. Many people think they are one in the same however, they are similar yet different at the same time. For example, a twin flame can also be your soulmate, but in a more soulful and spiritual way.
Soulmate: the definition of a soulmate is someone we have a close friendship with or a romantic partner. Someone who is aligned with our soul. We live our lives in search of our soulmate yet, you can have more than one soulmate in your lifetime, but only one twin flame. Soulmates are those with which we are immediately familiar and have a strong bond with. They can be a friend or a lover or something else in your life. When you come upon a soulmate it feels as though the meeting is fated. Like the universe played a role in your connection together. They awaken you to the person you were meant to be and guide you throughout your life, helping you achieve your truest form of self. The bond can never be broken. If they leave for a time, they will always find their way back to you. It feels like destiny to be with them, making you feel complete once more.
Twin flame: the definition of a twin flame is someone who you feel connected to on every level, physical, emotional, soulful, and spiritual. They are also known as twin souls, literally the other half of your soul. Because this flame involves “energy“, elevating you to a higher consciousness, the connection is so strong and fiery, that they may even scare you off because of this powerful force. This pure energy of the cosmos is souls split in two on a physical level, almost a mirror of yourself roaming the world. They will understand you in a way no one ever has. You may or may not have come across your twin flame in your lifetime, there is only one and once recognized, their presence in your life will shake you up and at the same time make you feel stable. This also feels like destiny to be with them, just as a soulmate, making you feel whole in a way you have never experienced before.
Whether we believe in soulmates or twinflames or both, the universe works in strange and mysterious ways and these meetings are no accident in our lifetime. These soulmates or twin flames are meant to cross our paths for a reason. They will change who you are on every level. We may not understand it at the time, but the reason will become apparent later on in our lives.
