Chronic pain can be the bane of your life, and there are so many people out there who suffer from illnesses such as fibromyalgia who are in constant pain every single day of their lives. If you know someone who is suffering or you are suffering yourself, here are some quick tips and tricks for coping with the pain every single day.
Take it slow
It is okay to not want to get out of bed. When you are constantly hurting it can feel like your whole world is crashing around you and it is no wonder you don’t want to leave the house. Just take things slow in the morning and get yourself up, have something to eat, try and get some stretching in, and get ready for your day. Don’t take things too slowly, moving your body is the best thing you can do for your fibromyalgia.
Tell your boss
The important thing the remember when going through your chronic pain management is to tell your boss what you have and make sure that they understand you might not be able to move sometimes due to the pain. If you need to, get a doctors note or ask your doctor to call and explain the issue so that they are patient with you and they give you the support you need during the working day.
Stay warm
Warmth can be a lifesaver when it comes to chronic pain because a lot of the time the cold makes our body stand to attention and shove and this can make things ten times worse. Try to keep yourself warm and toasty at all times and even if it doesn’t really soothe the pain, it should at least not hinder your ability to do things. Staying warm and cozy can be a great way to keep the body relaxed and it might just help with your symptoms for a little while.
Get support
Support can be the defense between you being miserable and being happy in your life, and honestly, getting support from the people you love can change your whole perspective as well as help you to cope with the pain. When you have people who know your struggles and who will help you be more comfortable it can make the pain more bearable and make your days better.
Relax and refresh
Whatever you do in your life make sure to always take time out when you need it! We all need to be able to chill out now and again and this can really be a big help for pain. If you are feeling particularly down one day, don’t feel as if you have to do a thing. Heat up some soup, cuddle up on the sofa and have a movie marathon with your family or your pet. You’ll feel so much better afterward and hopefully, you’ll be ready to tackle the next day when it comes. Pain can be difficult to deal with but if you take things day by day and listen to your body you should be able to enjoy a happy and healthy life.
