Do you often have feelings of failure or that you don’t measure up to the rest of the human race? You are not alone in feeling this way as many of us have felt this way at least once in our lives in one form or another. This can stem from possibly meeting someone in your life that has unconsciously made you feel that you were not accepted and you began to believe them and started judging yourself. This does more harm than good because no one can make you
feel inadequate or inferior, unless you allow them to.
Some helpful points:
● Do not compare yourself to anyone else: none of us are the same so why sit there and compare yourself to others? We all think differently, feel differently and act differently. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else; you are you and accept and appreciate your individuality. This is what sets you apart from everyone else on this planet and thank goodness, we are all different!
● Don’t believe negative thoughts about yourself: we all can tend to put ourselves down and have negative thoughts about ourselves. This can be harmful because if you keep thinking this way eventually you can become it. Only thinking positive thoughts will keep you on the right track to believing in yourself. This is a crucial milestone in your lifetime. Believing in yourself…if you don’t, who will?
● Know yourself: this is an important point because knowing yourself and who you are gives you the strength and confidence to be yourself. And being yourself and believing in who you are will help you fight off any negative thoughts you have of being a failure. You will have the power to realize if you fail at something that it will be okay because you will learn from the experience and it gives you the confidence to keep trying. You don’t want to give up on yourself.
● Practice self-compassion: cut yourself a break whenever possible. No one is perfect; we are all human. Being human allows you to have compassion for every living thing and this includes yourself. Forgive yourself when necessary and realize that you are your own best advocate. Realize that others have suffered as you have, no one escapes some type of suffering in this lifetime. We are all fighting our own battles in life; always keep that in mind and be kind to yourself and others.
Remember you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be you. This will always be good enough. You are good enough.
