Valentine’s day has a way of making people think. It’s either what to do for your partner or lamenting on the lack of one. No matter how cynical you are and how “love should be celebrated everyday/love doesn’t need one single day”, Valentine’s Day brings out the emotions.
For those of you who are single or healing from a relationship, this article is for you. These are some of my favourite quote and sayings which just make you believe in silver linings and new beginnings.
“You will become a graveyard of all the women you once were before you rise one morning embraced by your own skin. You will swallow a thousand different names before you taste the meaning held within your own.” – Pavana
“So, just trust that you’ll be on the other side of the story someday, telling another discouraged soul that their great love is out there, and truly believing that they will find their happy ending too.” – Liz Newman
“One day someone is gonna show you the only hurt you deserve is the aching in your cheeks.” – ang frank
“She’s been through hell and came out, an angel. You didn’t break her, darling. You don’t own that kind of power.” – BMM Poetry
“Strenght.
We gain strength in the most ironic way. We find it when we are weakest when we think we are breaking into a shattered chaos. We learn to have the strength to let go of what doesn’t make us strong.” – Chrissy Pinney
“My scars tell a story. They are a minder of times when life tried to break me, but failed. They are markings of where the structure of my character was welded.” – Steve Maraboli
“Sometimes I look at you and I can’t understand how someone before me didn’t see what I see.”
“I am learning how to breathe again, tasting the inhale of life in each step and walking it… living it, still teaching myself to learn it, and love it, instead of talking about how one day I will. I made today the day and tomorrow too. I am learning how to put yesterday down and leave the pieces alone. Face forward tastes good.” – Stephanie Bennett-Henry
“My wish is that you fall in love with someone who sees all the messy parts of your mixed up soul, and loves you anyway. Fall in love with someone who holds your hand on a slow Sunday stroll through the park, someone who walks up behind you while you’re cooking dinner and wraps their arms around you, someone who stops to kiss you under the mistletoe on Christmas morning. Fall in love with someone who supports your biggest dreams and encourages your growth. Fall in love with someone who isn’t afraid to tell you when you’re being irrational, but still stands by your side, someone who will never take you for granted and loves you for exactly who you are. Fall in love with the one who comes into your life and reminds you what butterlfies feel like. ” – Dena Daigle
“The road to true love is the same road that will first show you what true love is not.” – JmStorm
“Some days I am more wolf than woman and I am still learning how to stop apologising for my wild.” – Nikita Gill
“Please do not apologize to me for being who you are. I am not him. I accept and adore you as you are. Please do not think I am better than you, because I am not. Whatever he said to you or however he treated you, I will not be that malicious or carefree with someone so kind and sincere. I come with love and only love for you sweetheart. We are all formed from somewhere and eventually return when we are ready. We do that so we can see the growth of our hearts in hopes of finding someone to share that commonplace with. I wish to only know you better and hold your hand as much as I can until my body is at rest with love buried in my chest and words that do not necessarily define me, above me. A hundred miles or a thousand miles, I am always whispering your name to the moon. We go back a ways, and she still owes me a few favors.” – Zachry K. Douglas
“I hope you have days when your vision is clear, your strength is might, and your faith is endless. You deserve days when you see your worth, fight for what you want, and never settle for anything less than you deserve.” – Nicole Lyons
“Someone is going to come into your life… it’s going to be unexpected… that’s how it works… I beg of you don’t compare… you’re going to want to.. I know… I find myself there… they say you only get that one love one time… I believe that… that’s the point… you were supposed to learn what you could from the last one.. to help you grow.. .now you’re different… it’s time for a new kind of love… maybe the one that stays… the one you’re finally ready for… just remember… it’s going to be different… as it should be… embrace it… run with it… it may just be the adventure you’ve been waiting for…” – Jason King
“I know this transformation is painful, but you’re not falling apart; you’re just falling into something different, with a new capacity to be beautiful.”- William C. Hannan
“You can’t keep a good woman down. She can be cheated on. Lied to. Taken advantage of… by every man she’s ever loved. Yet she’s the one they miss in the end. She’s the one they swear over – for letting go. She’s the one that haunts their thoughts. She’s the one that gathered all her dignity from their misuse and went on to love again. She rises like a phoenix after betrayal – and damn she lights up the sky.” – Alfa
“Maybe all the heartache was for an epic story to be written.” – Simi Fromen
“The bravest thing I ever did was start over, rebuild myself from the wreckage of my own brokenness.” – faraway
“I never thought I’d make it through, let alone make it out sane… but I did. And through it all I learned that the human spirit possesses such immense strength that each and every one of us has the power to grow through our worst nightmares.” – Phoenix Mode (Karishma RK)
“I love the way she survived. Survival looked good on her. There were no dark marks under her eyes. Maybe deep inside, but I liked the way she looked through them and laughed at life. She did it gracefully. She’d walk over glass and through fire, but still smiled. And honestly, I’m not interested in people who haven’t yet had their heart ripped out, or know what it feels like to lose everything.” I trust those people, because they stand for something. I knew what she’d been through. I wanted to thank her for surviving. And her to know she now had someone willing to stand with her too.— J Raymond,
