Remaining Mindful In A Hectic World

Regular readers of this blog will already be aware of our thoughts on mindfulness. As a practice, mindfulness can be an incredibly useful way to keep  a peaceful and relaxed mind. It has existed in some form or another for a few thousand years, and it is enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years throughout the west, where it is still gaining momentum in terms of being understood, it can often seem like a failed practice, however, especially when there are terrible things going on around the world. How can you expect to remain mindful in a chaotic world? Here are a few ideas.

Focus On The Positive

Even though it might be true that there are many aspects to global world events which are unfavorable, it is also true that there is much good in the world. If you want to remain as happy as you can, it helps to focus on the positive. This might seem hard at times, but with a little practice you will soon be able to do it better and better. By paying attention to the people like Dr Moshe Kantor who are working to improve the world, you can be sure of a happier and more relaxed outlook in yourself. To do this more effectively, you might find that you need to pay less attention to the mainstream news, as this is frequently focused on the more negative aspects of daily life around the world.

Create A Sanctuary

No matter what is happening around the world, there will always be a chance for you to get away from it all. You deserve to be happy and to remain mindful, so it’s a good idea to find some place you can feel truly at home in. if your home has enough space for it, then you might like to build this into your home in some way. However you do it, there is nothing wrong with wanting to have somewhere to go to to reclaim your peace and your ease of mind. Just make sure that you don’t lock yourself away for long periods of time, as that could amount to burying your head in the sand.

Create Something Positive

If it is truly starting to get to you, then you can decide to take some kind of action to improve the state of things. This is arguably the best approach you can possibly take, as in this way you are actively improving the state of the world. It can often feel as though being just one person means you can’t do much – but nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is that even making small attempts to change things in your own life will make a big difference in the long term. It is only by taking small steps that things can improve overall, so never feel as though you are too small to do anything. Any change you make for the better will be worthwhile in the end.
