Yes, love can be scary, it can be confusing, and it can be terrifying. But if it wasn’t all those things, then it isn’t love.

It’s true what they say about love and how it can be a complicated subject to talk about. So much so, that we still don’t know any more about love and how it works than we did 100 years ago or even before that. It’s an age-old problem, this mystery of love. With all our smart technology and advancements in the modern world, nothing is more baffling to us then the human heart and the unsolved mystery of love.

We are constantly questioning ourselves, asking if what we feel is love or not. I am not a love expert by any means, but I am certain of one thing. Love is the one topic poets write of fervently and can never exhaust the subject. There are so many different emotions that can surface with love that we have searched and searched for the right words to describe it, with the many love poems that have been written, describing every thought and emotion, in our feeble attempt to explain how love works.

There are so many questions that can arise when it comes to love. I have found that some of the answers can be simple and some complicated. And sometimes, there is no answer. You can start by asking yourself a few simple questions to explore your own feelings.

A checklist:

  • Typically, they may be the first person you think of when you wake up and the last before you go to sleep. And sometimes, they are all you think about.
  • They make you feel differently from anyone else in your life. They can make you feel more alive, more passionate, and you cannot imagine your life without them in it. You just want them near because they make you happier and feel more complete.
  • Your love is unconditional. You love them regardless of what they’ve said or done. You love them unconditionally and nothing can really change that. True love does not disappear when factors arise where love is challenged or becomes complicated. You love them through all the questions and confusions. You love them through it all.
  • You love everything about them. All their flaws and imperfections are overlooked because you accept them for the person they are. And you love them exactly as they are.

Yes, love can be complicated, and you can be uncertain of your feelings, but there is one thing that’s for certain. When you really love someone, it is a love worth fighting for because it is rare and doesn’t come along every day. Love is a precious thing and you understand how important it is when you are faced with the fear of losing it.
